The redevelopment of NICET's Special Hazards Suppression Systems (SHSS) program is well on its way to launching in the Computer-Based Testing format! The Development team held a successful standard setting workshop for Level I on June 20-21. During that time, the committee also made strides toward the completion of item writing and review for SHSS Level II. The standard setting workshop for Special Hazards Level II is scheduled for July 29-30, 2013. NICET still needs volunteers for this meeting, so if you or someone you know would like to help, please contact Jennifer Floyd via email at firstname.lastname@example.org . Participating technicians must: • Have significant, current experience in special hazards suppression systems • Not be involved in preparing or conducting formal training courses with the purpose of preparing individuals for NICET testing • As a group, be reasonably representative of various types and sizes of companies, work objectives and environments, and geographic considerations The Special Hazards Suppression Systems program will continue into Levels III and IV later in the year. Level III will hold its exam development workshop on August 12-14, 2013, and Level IV will be held on November 4-6, 2013. Work Element testing will end one (1) year from the launch of the Level I exam in the new CBT/Standard Model format.
